The sports venues in the city of Lieto have lighting available on demand.
The need-based lighting of the city of Lieto's sports venues has received praise from users and experts. Kai Lagerström, elected Sports Venue Manager Champion of the Year in 2021, talks about the collaboration with C2 SmartLight, which began with the renewal of street lighting in 2016. The renovation of the Viertola field completed in 2024 is one of the most significant projects where smart lighting solutions have improved lighting quality and energy efficiency. There are already a dozen sport venues in Lieto that use C2 SmartPlay push-button control, and one fitness track monitors activity with a C2 SmartCounter.

Sports Venue Manager Kai Lagerström from the city of Lieto tells his experiences of cooperation with C2 SmartLight: "Our cooperation with C2 SmartLight started in 2016, when we started renewing the street lighting in the city of Lieto. Since then, we have jointly developed smart lighting solutions that improve both the user experience and energy efficiency," says Lagerström.
A particularly significant project has been the renovation of the Viertola field completed in 2024, where the quality of the lighting improved considerably. The lighting on Viertola's field has been implemented so that the lighting is turned on at 60% power from a push button on the side of the field, which is a suitable level for hobby shifts. From the maintenance room, if necessary, the field manager can increase the lighting to 100% when there is a game where more light is needed.
"We have received a lot of positive feedback from our customers, who appreciate the improved lighting quality and energy efficiency. This project has been a great learning experience for us, and we are proud to be able to offer such a high level of service to the residents of Lieto."
In Lieto, there are already a dozen sports venues that use the C2 SmartPlay push-button control. In addition to Viertola, in 2024 three sand sand also received C2 SmartPlay push-button control. "This enables the lighting to be adjusted as needed, which improves the user experience and saves energy. For example, fitness tracks can be lit exactly when they are used, which reduces unnecessary energy consumption," Lagerström continues. One fitness track also has a C2 SmartCounter, which is used to monitor the activity of the fitness track.
